Tour of our House

I've been cleaning, and as I've been cleaning I've been snapping pictures around our house. More just for proof that I actually did something that day. Now five seconds after I get everything in order, little hands undo all that I've done. Don't be fooled, we don't live like this every day. At the end of most days I feel like Lisa Simpson, who responds with disappointment, "oh, my effort." to find that's it all been undone for me.

Hadley's Room

...Adam wants his room on the blog but, I've told him he'll have to clean it first. You may never see it. :)

The countdown continues

7 days to go...why does it feel like 7 months to me?

Baby Quilts

I've been quilting up a storm lately...trying to do as much as I can before the baby gets here. Here's one of my newly finished baby quilts for my friend Jenna.

Why couldn't the pirate stop thinking about sailing?

....Because he had ship for brains.

Today, Adam had an exciting day. A group of pirates left him a treasure map in his room that told him of buried treasure in the back yard.

Digging for treasure

Discovering his treasures -- those pirates should have counted out
more pennies and less quarters.

Looking for those generous pirates!

(Even though all evidence was removed -- Adam immediately noticed that the pirates got their treasure chest from Hobby Lobby.)

Time Savers

I went to the doctor yesterday...and well I won't tell you what the scale revealed (or who was more shocked me or the nurse -- I'm sure I heard an unprofessional "whoa" under her breath --maybe that was just me.) At any rate, I know it has to do mainly with the fact that I am just too tired to cook, so we eat out way too much. Well, that in addition to my dirty little love affair with dr. pepper and double chocolate brownie batter. Let's hope the dr. pepper folks never figured out to combine the two.

This week I decided to make somewhat of an effort on the dinner front -- since all the kid knows how to make me is PB&J. I have some energy in the morning but, not in the evening. Last night I planned some simple meals and today I prepared all the vegetables, chicken & beef for our dinners this week. It didn't take any longer to cook all our chicken for the week, then just for one meal. I sliced, chopped & seasoned everything and put it in the fridge. It was sure easy tonight to just throw everything in the pan and heat it up for our chicken fajita tacos. I had a really good dinner ready in no time, and just one pan to clean up. Sorry, Taco Tuesday...you'll have to wait until next week.

I've also done this with Adam's lunches. I pre-made sandwiches and hot dogs for the week so all I have to do is grab it and serve. I put all the hot dogs together and then wrap them individually. It only takes 15 seconds in the microwave to heat them up and he's a happy camper. It sure saves time doing all of them at once, instead of making them seperately 8 different times.

Got any time savers you use?

More projects finished....

I made these circle letters after seeing some similar ones on Etsy. The Etsy lady had some beautiful ones but, I just couldn't afford the $20 per letter it would have cost. I was able to paint all of these for about the cost of one individual letter of Etsy. I'm not crazy about the H & the l -- I think they get lost on the pink background. Eventually I'll outline them with a dark pink but, for now, they are out of the closet and on the wall.
I found these pale pink buckets at Hobby Lobby. I found the metal bird and the butterfly at Target and loved the shape of them. Unfortunately, they were a rusty brown color and had these horribly cheap looking orange & turquoise ribbons tied to them. I removed the ribbon, painted them black, and used the glue gun to stick them to the buckets. I think they turned out beautiful. Thanks Summer for telling me where to put them! (It's good when your friend is an interior designer and she can come over and tell you put this here, and that there -- and then you do it and it looks fantastic!)

I had our local vinyl lettering lady, Kristi, cut out "I am a child of God" for the empty space above our changing table. She's affordable & quick. It cost $10 for this phrase and it's 36" long. If it's not centered -- no one tell me.
