Hadley @ 3 weeks

Today Hadley is 3 weeks old. I completely missed getting photos last week, so I got the camera out after nap time to get some photos.

The wet wipe

Today I went to check on Adam when he was taking an extraordinarily long time cleaning up after doing his business. He had mounds of toilet paper that wasn't quite doing the job, so I suggested his flushable wipes. Unfortunately, I said, "why don't you use the wet ones?" To which he took his handful of used toilet paper and stuck into directly into the toilet water to get it wet. Thank goodness I was there before he tried to use his homemade wet wipes. Ugh, disgusting.

The Soccer Trophy

Adam started the soccer season this year by introducing himself to his coach, followed by asking, "Can I have a trophy?" Coach Eric assured Adam he would receive a trophy at the end of the season. After a lengthy season, which consisted of Adam playing a total of 3 games over the course of 4 mos. he finally received his trophy. Since the last game, as with the majority of the other games, was again rained out, the parents received an email that we would do the trophy presentation at the local Cici's. All the kids made it to "awards banquet." The coach did not. Luckily, his wife handed out the trophies. The fact that Adam had never met her did not deter him from claiming his prize.

We found that the coach's son was equally active as Adam. (On numerous occasions both kids were called out by the coach for goofing off instead of playing soccer.) This is right before the kid on the left spun his trophy into the back of Adam's head.

...and this is right after.

I didn't get a photo of Adam dancing naked with his trophy later at home.

1 week

Yesterday was Hadley's one week birthday. It seems like a million years ago that we were at the hospital. She's doing well but, has this pesky habit of being fussy in the middle of the night. During the daytime she's an angel. She's getting easier to quiet down and we are looking forward to the day we can all sleep through the night again. I know it's tough on Jared to not get sleep through the night but, I keep reminding him by the time I get to sleep through the night again, it will have be almost a year since I have done that (I don't sleep well during pregnancy -- even at the beginning.) That will be a happy day. Here's some pictures of Hadley at one week.

Things we've learned about Hadley at 1 week:
-She's already on a 4 hour feeding schedule (hallelujah)
-She prefers being held on her left side
-She smiles right before she passes gas or makes poopy diapers (stinker!)
-She's a snugglebug
-She's a lot of work and sleepless nights at this age but, we can't imagine her not being part of our family.

She's Here!

Hadley Kate Hooste was born at 3:28 pm. She weighed 7 lbs. 12.5 oz. She is 19.5 inches tall. She has a good set of lungs already. She has brown hair and hazel eyes. She has lots of hair! Baby & Mom are doing good. I'm sore but, overall in good spirits! Way more agreeable now than yesterday!

I'm still kickin'

An update: I'm not very sociable these days. I know a lot of you have called to check on me but, I'm grumpy or napping so I'm just not answering the phone. (Plus, if the phone is across the room there is no way I can get there in time before it stops ringing.) I'm not sleeping consistently, overall feel crummy, I have desire to do things and no energy to do them -- and no one wants to hear about that. Plus, if I hear one more person say, "Well you've only got xx number of days left -- my head might just explode. I feel like I am counting in dog years. I know it will all be better/worth it/good tomorrow when Hadley gets here but, for right now I'm stuck in my own preggo misery. I'm looking forward to when I can start to feel like myself again.

I promise to send out news via phone calls/emails/blog post/courier pigeons when Hadley's finally here.

Not a fan

I'm absolutely done with seeing the world at 4 am. Every night I wake up between 3 & 4 am and can't get back to sleep. It never seems to fail, that no matter what channel is on, what time it is -- "the Donald" is on talking about how to get rich quick. I guess Hadley is a fan. I am not.
