Jean Jacket

These pictures don't do this project justice. It's so cute in person. This is an easy project but, time consuming because you have to switch to different colors of thread so often. Hadley won't be able to wear this until next fall. I was showing my friend Maegan how to make one so it was just easier to make mine as we went along.

This week in review

We had a busy week. My sister & her family has been in town, I had a fight with the gate at the mini mine train, and accidentally stole from the disabled. It hasn't left much time for posting.

My sister lives in Georgia, and hasn't been to Texas in years. Since we don't get to see each other that much we crammed a summer's worth of activities into one week. The kids had a blast. We went to six flags, hurricane harbor, the jump zone, movies, and lots of swimming.

At the beginning of the week we took everyone to six flags. Adam wanted to ride the mini mine train. As soon as we sat down, he decided he didn't want to ride and jumped off the ride. He ran right behind the gate area. I jumped off to get him, somehow tripped, and got my left ankle caught in the gate as it was closing. The helpful attendant decided to open the gate for me, which pushed me back, then he decided to close it again, which dragged me forward. At the same time, the gate behind me was also opening & closing and knocking me around. I can only imagine how ridiculous I looked. I hope they got it on tape, that way they'll have something great to watch during their Christmas party. Adam got a good talking to about ride safety, and I got to be pushed around six flags in a wheel chair. I don't think my foot is broken but, it was almost a week before I could walk without limping.

We wanted to get pictures of all the kids before they left. The way they complained you would have thought we asked them to cut off their arms before the photoshoot. At one point, I took 25 pictures in a row before I got one of all 5 children smiling. Adam decided to wave to strangers off camera, Savannah started pushing Adam's back, Logan decided he was done with pictures and would not look at the camera, Alyssa decided to put her hands around her brother's neck, and Hadley decided it was a good time to nap. It was funny going through all the pictures in succession. We finally told the kids, "We are not leaving until we get one picture where everyone smiles." Amazingly, they all perked up and we were done.

We had fun, and it was good to have the family all together again.

Adam-ism

On Friday Adam spent the night with his pappaw.

Mommy: Adam are you going to be a good boy for pappaw?
Adam: uh-huh. Are you going to be a good girl for daddy?

The Kids

Finished Crafts

Here's a quilt for our bed. It's my biggest quilt that I've made.

Front
The back

Here's a quilt I made for Hadley.

Here's the shopping cart cover. It has a green fabric on the reverse side. I still have to add the safety straps but, I have no idea how to use the button hole feature on my sewing machine. I'm sure it's completely simple but, I've never done it before. I will never make one of these again. Way too much cost & work!

The Hot Mom

A couple of teenagers drove by and yelled some cat-calls while I was at the park with the kids. The one comment I understood was, "show us your....let's just say "stuff." While they just blew by and yelled toward the general direction of the park, I know they were referring to me. All the other women at the park had their mom capris on. I on the other hand was sporting my stretchy men's running shorts & mismatched, oversized t-shirt with multi-colored paint stains on it. I'm sure it didn't hurt that I am also carrying around leftover baby weight equivalent to 3 large bags of potatoes. I'm not surprised that they couldn't control themselves at the sight of me.
