Flashback

I thought you'd enjoy this picture of my family from the early 80's. I think I'm about 3 in the picture. I'm the one in the green cat overalls. Can you believe my crafty mom made these for me? I remember loving this outfit, and would love to make an updated version for Hadley but, I'm sure I'll never find this pattern. The girl in the pink is my little sister Vanessa, and the girl on the left is my cousin Christy. Unknowingly, my mom and my aunt made photo appointments at the same time and the same place. When they both arrived and saw us all dressed nice they decided to just have our pictures taken together. I absolutely love the orange shag carpeting we got to sit on.

Adam's new hobby

Adam has a new hobby. It's called time out. It must be something he's trying to get better at because it's barely 11 am, and he's spent the better part of today on his bed trying to get his time out skills perfected. Any skills that your kids are trying to perfect?

Birthday Fun

Preggers at the Keggers

Being pregnant cuts out all the extreme fun things I could do on my birthday, you know like sky-diving and jumping on trampolines. All I wanted to do on my birthday was have a good dinner with friends and a fancy birthday cake. We went to The Keg and had great steaks. One of the kid's moms from when I taught makes cakes. She did a great job on my cake. I think the other tables were wishing they could join our party just for the dessert. Overall, I feel fine about turning 30. I've done everything I've wanted to do this decade. I've finished college, studied art history in Italy, traveled through parts of Europe, been in love, married this guy that makes me laugh all the time, had a career, and became a mom to a sweet, goofy red-head. I'm happy in my own skin, and I'm happy at the place I'm at. I suppose it's time to sit down and make some new plans for the upcoming decade but, then again, I've got 10 years for that.

The pink is here to stay

This morning I went in and had a 2nd ultrasound. The tech was fantastic and got me some great picts. He said he is "100 percent sure it's a girl." I got to see a really good picture on the screen of the baby's face. She has the same button nose that Adam has. We got to see her waving her arm, and opening and closing her mouth. I'll post a sonogram picture later.

Tarrant County wishes you a Happy Birthday

...and an order to appear in the Central Jury Room to serve as a juror in the courts of Tarrant County. Not that I am opposed to my civic duty but, I'll be glad to take my exemption this time around.

The need for confirmation

Now that I've completely painted the nursery in "pink air" -- I've been more and more concerned that maybe the ultrasound tech was wrong about this being a girl. Truly, I feel like this is a girl but, it's hard to not second guess. My ultrasound tech didn't even print off pictures of the girly area, so I can't even re-check things at home. I just keep thinking, what if that white line I saw on the screen was just butt crack? All of that being said, I've scheduled another sonogram for Monday afternoon just to verify everything. I'll be 23 weeks then, and it should be more obvious what we are dealing with. If it comes back boy, I'll be looking for painters. I can't bear to be the one to paint over the pink.

The Shark Steam Mop

This is my new favorite gadget. Despite seeing this on an infomercial -- I was still interested in the product, although I doubt I'll attach 50 helium balloons to mine. (You can get this at Walmart) I always have little kid messes on my tile floor that drive me crazy. It never fails when I want to do a quick mop, that I have a sink load of dirty dishes, a dishwasher full of clean dishes which means several chores before I can get to that quick mop job. I love this mop! It's easy to use, weighs about as much as a traditional mop, uses only water - no cleaners, has a plug- no batteries, and the pads are machine washable. Because the handle is skinny, like a regular mop, I was able to store it in the organizer in place of my old mop. The floor dries incredible fast, not quite as fast as the ad shows but, definitely it's dry under 1 minute. I am amazed at what it cleans with minimal effort. My only complaints are that because of the steam I can't let Adam use this mop (which he loves to do) The instructions clearly state do not let the mop set in one place for very long or the steam can damage your floors. I'm not sure how long "very long" is but, I've had no damage to my tile floors. I've read mix reviews on using this on hardwood floors but, seems to work great on tile, vinyl, and laminate.
